so first, the the bbq on labour day... ace. the metroparks are really beautiful, here is a picture:
they have little grills all over the place so you can just pick a spot and cook away. there's so much forest and beautifulness, and it's all a five minute drive from our house. yay!
delicious. so i am going to get really good at that.
so, not the nicest, and they had stains on the seats and were a bit rank in general, but i bought them because i think that the shapes are lovely. when do you think they are from? there's a tag on the bottom that says 1962, but i think maybe they're a little bit older and were resold in the 60's. i don't know. what do you think?
so recently, i have been mostly writing, buying housey things, and deciding to learn lomography. i have the most beautiful and cheapy camera in the world on its way to me. oh, i can't resist. i'm going to have to put pictures in.
oh, and another thing i've been doing (am slightly worried that i'm turning into a cliche, by the way. bored housewife turns to craft to stop self going insane?) is fixing up our dining set. i am very proud of myself. here they are before:
so, not the nicest, and they had stains on the seats and were a bit rank in general, but i bought them because i think that the shapes are lovely. when do you think they are from? there's a tag on the bottom that says 1962, but i think maybe they're a little bit older and were resold in the 60's. i don't know. what do you think?so i found a really nice table cloth which is kind of cath kidson-y flowery in green, which i LOVE. it was only $8 in the sale, and there was another table cloth, which was the same but in white, which i didn't like for a table cloth, but... for
seat covers...
seat covers...ta daaaa! i am rather pleased with them. they need another coat of paint, but i can't get to the hardware store, so they'll have to do for now. and i need to paint the table too. but a good start i think! it was fun. i am going to do more of it.
so. what else? not much new really, more of the same. in a good way. last week was a bit of a dark one - we had a bad spell of missing everyone too much. but we seem to be over it now. we don't miss you anymore, so don't worry.
there are many americans who wouldn't get that.
tonight we're going to see dee dee's brother's band play in kent. a different city! oooh, so exciting! and dee dee's mum invited us to go there for thanksgiving. so nice! can't wait. and then wednesday i am going to go to tai chi. boy oh boy. i am going to SUCK at that! and on thursday i have a writer's group. eek. better get writing.
love you billions xxxx
p.s. to people who have written lovely letters to us, sorry it's taking so long to get back to you! i'm on it! xxx

LOVE the chairs! Well done you. What's this about babies in microwaves?? Crazy-loonville-Ohians.
thanks! yay me!
yes, someone else from england mentionned the microwave thing... but i haven't heard anything about it here. they obviously like to keep the lunacy quiet.

Baby in a microwave is one helluva way to end a relationship... She got life w/out the possibility of parole... but I can't see her lasting long inside w/the other inmates.
Gonna hopefully start my own blog one of these days - see if I can tell a few work stories (sans the details of course)I think you guys might get a kick outta some of the crazy things I've been part of.
Speak soon hun. Love youuuuu xx

THOSE CHAIRS ARE AMAZING...
Did you used to watch Changing Rooms? Have you used scumble glaze yet? Or gold leaf? I've always wanted to use that stuff... just because they did.
...
I see a new sideline career coming on...
You're amazing x
yes, i am very much inspired by the work of jenny powell.
my future works will involve the use of scumble glaze and gold leaf. i will be replacing handles on all chests of drawers and doors with cut glass knobs.
thank you for your interest.
i heart you.
xx
hqvdcOoo - get you, very domesticated. Granny Marie would be proud of your sewing abilities, you've done a great job with the chairs. very pretty.
